More than one thousand people attended Saturday’s annual Chili Cook-Off in Idaho City.

Snow, rain, sleet and even sun kept a crowd of more than 1,000 on their toes as they walked from vendor to vendor, sampling chili.

Sixteen vendors were scattered throughout downtown Idaho City for folks to sample their creations and await the title of “Best Chili” from the judges.

Chili was judged on color, consistency, taste/flavor and after-taste among other factors that taunt the taste buds.

Four judges, including CBS 2’s Natalie Hurst, ranked the following as the best in show:

First: Preston’s Boulder Creek

Second: Idaho City Trading Post

Third: Spanky’s

The crowd was also invited to rank their favorite chili, and after sampling chili, shop at the local vendors and participate in family-friendly activities.
