Meridian police apprehend 43-year-old man after multi-county chase and foot pursuit

Meridian Police Department reports arresting a 43-year-old man who fled from police through multiple counties before crashing his vehicle and fleeing on foot.

At approximately 10:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, officers in Meridian were notified of a pursuit heading south on Hwy 16. The pursuit began in Payette and was discontinued by Gem County Deputies at Star Rd. and McMillan. Meridian officers in the are witnessed the suspect, Elijah Anderson, crash his vehicle into a ditch on E. Franklin Rd.

Anderson then got out of his crashed vehicle and fled on foot. Officers report that Anderson would not obey their commands so he was tased and taken into custody. He is currently facing multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, and obstructing an officer. Gem County Sheriff's Office and Payette Police are conducting their own investigations and additional charges from those jurisdictions may be pending.
